I was diagnosed with crohns when I was 12 weeks pregnant with my daughter. I was extremely sick. The doctors wanted to put me on pick line but the insurance didn’t want to pay because they thought my illness was caused by my gastric bypass surgery.
I had to have an emergency surgery because I wasn’t eating or drinking and had lost 30 lbs in my first 3 months of pregnancy. They still was not sure what I had at this point.
I woke up from surgery and was told that my bowel was 95% blocked and they took out a foot of small intestine and that I had Crohn’s disease. I was scared because I had never heard of this disease and didn’t know what it meant for my unborn child I was still carrying.
I’m now on stelara and am in remission.
